Soccer Future Watch: Facundo Buonanotte Soccer Cards, Leicester City – Facundo Buonanotte, a thrilling young attacking midfielder/winger, was compared to Lionel Messi by former coach Carlos Tevez. It’s unsurprising that Buonanotte modestly rejected the invocation of his name in that way. However, comparisons to greats of the game will be unavoidable as Buonanotte continues his upward trajectory.
Buonanotte joined the Rosario Central youth academy at age ten, making his professional debut in February 2022 in the team colors. Three months later, Buonanotte scored the game-winning penalty shot in a Copa Argentina match. The first senior goal came two months later, in July 2022, after Buonanotte signed his first professional contract.
In January 2023, Buonanotte joined the Brighton & Hove Albion academy and debuted with the top squad a month later. Buonanotte posted three goals and an assist in the 2023-24 season, moving to Leicester City on a loan for 2024-25. There he has already scored three times and notched two assists. Part of this breakthrough stems from the additional opportunities that Buonanotte has earned. The season average of 2.78 shots per game is exactly double what he was allotted in 2023-24. In the last year in Premier League play among midfielder/wingers, Buonanotte rates in the top 99th percentile in tackles, the 98th in blocks and the 92nd in pass completion percentage.
Buonanotte has also competed for the Argentine national Under-20 team and the senior squad. Celebrated for his otherworldly acceleration, top-line speed, ball control and field vision, Buonanotte will have the enviable “problem” of being compared to the all-time greats for many years to come.
Buonanotte’s cards and stickers have been on the market since 2023 with parallels and inserts available. Panini (Obsidian, Prizm English Premier League), Donruss/Donruss Optic, Topps (Argentina Filetaedo and Chrome UEFA Club Competition), Select (FIFA and English Premier League), Finest UEFA Club Competitions and Merlin UEFA Club Competitions are the available brands. Excellent memorabilia is also on the market, much of it autographed.
