Upper Deck launches new memorabilia collection signed by Fútbol Superstar Lionel Messi
FC Barcelona’s legendary forward and 2014 World Cup Golden Ball winner signs a premium memorabilia collection in association with Leo Messi Management and Icons Shop Limited.
Carlsbad, CA (November 5, 2014) – Lionel Messi may only be 27 years old, but he is widely considered to be the greatest fútbol player on the field today. Messi, possessing a magic wand of a left foot, is the first fútbol player in history to win four FIFA/Ballons d’Or, all of which he won consecutively, as well as the first to win three European Golden Shoe awards. With the staggering number of championships and records the Argentina and FC Barcelona striker already holds, Messi fans around the world are clamoring for exciting new merchandise and collectibles to add to their collections.
Now, fans can look to Upper Deck for a new line of autographed Lionel Messi memorabilia and collectibles. The Upper Deck-Messi collection includes five separately autographed pieces that are of such limited edition that, for four of the items, Messi only signed between 20-50 pieces of each. Details on the brand new collection can be found on the company’s online store at www.upperdeckstore.com/Messi.
“Upper Deck Authenticated has a reputation of providing fans with the world’s greatest memorabilia, and we are thrilled to add products signed by the world’s greatest fútbol star to that portfolio,” said Jason Masherah, president of Upper Deck.
The new collection includes some incredible, never-before-seen, Messi-signed items such as “The Show,” which features a breathtaking 46”x20” framed piece with the largest Messi signature that Upper Deck has ever produced. The “Flea Flicker Breaking Through” piece is a nearly life-size action shot of Messi in mid-kick, with a ball actually “breaking through” the frame’s plexiglas. One of the most anticipated pieces is the Lionel Messi “Tegata,” which showcases his actual handprint and signature, along with an exclusive new stamp from Messi. This rare, Japanese-inspired collectible has been a big hit and gained international renown with many of the world’s best athletes, and are produced in very limited quantities.
At this summer’s 2014 FIFA World Cup, Messi scored four of his five career FIFA World Cup goals in leading Argentina to the FIFA World Cup final against Germany. Through his decade-long career with Barcelona, Messi has become the club’s all-time leading goal scorer while winning three UEFA Champions League crowns, six Spanish ‘La Liga’ titles, six Spanish Super Cups, two Spanish Copas del Rey, two UEFA Super Cups and two Club World Cups.
“As Leo Messi official signed memorabilia partner, Icons Shop Limited was happy to work with Upper Deck to help create a limited range of autographed products that mirror the same innovative products signed by Upper Deck’s unrivalled roster of champions” said Dan Jamison, CEO of Icons Shop Limited.
The Lionel Messi Upper Deck authenticated memorabilia collection was created in association with Icons Shop Limited and Leo Messi. Find out more about this highly anticipated new product portfolio at www.upperdeckstore.com/Messi, or call (800) 551-8220.
