Upper Deck Grants Fans Wishes David Ayers RCs Coming Soon – The remarkable story of David Ayers, a 42-year-old Zamboni driver, who served as an emergency back-up goalie for the Carolina Hurricanes, has taken the sports world by storm. Not only did he mind the net, after injuries to both Hurricane goalies, he helped secure a victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Fans and collectors reached out to Upper Deck in earnest requesting the NHL trading card licensee get Ayers into an upcoming trading card set. However, there was one problem. Ayers isn’t a member of the NHL Players Association. That meant that Upper Deck would need to secure an individual deal with Ayres to appear in a licensed trading card product. So that’s EXACTLY what they did!
David Ayres will have his first-ever Upper Deck NHL trading card available this week through the 
company’s Game Dated Moments program on e-Pack. Images of the front and back of this card commemorating this incredible moment are depicted here. These are physical cards that can be mailed to collectors, More information on the Upper Deck e-Pack Game-Dated Moments program can be found here.
In addition, the Upper Deck team was also able to scramble to get Ayres his very own Upper Deck Young Guns Update Rookie card (which will include UD Exclusives parallels /100 and High Gloss parallels /10) in 2019-20 NHL SP Authentic, scheduled to release in mid-May.
