Future Watch: Nick Tropeano Baseball Rookie Cards, Houston Astros – Nick Tropeano is a Long Island native and the pride of Stony Brook University, not a baseball hotbed, but they have produced some players. Now, this tall right handed hurler will get another shot to make it in the bigs at the age of 24.

He broke in last year with the Houston Astros, the team that drafted him in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft. As a starter he only got into a total of four games with a lackluster 1-3 record and a bad ERA of 4.57.

However, he’s now with the Los Angeles Angels and he’s getting yet another chance. Tropeano’s first game this year was on April 23rd where he threw a solid six innings, capturing the win. His next start was on July 24th where he again threw six innings, while giving up four runs, and he ended up on the losing side of the ledger. So what’s next?

With the Angels in the playoff hunt, he may get used as a spot starter or as a long reliever. With some games already under his belt he’s a lot more useful than your average September call up.

Nick Tropeano’s first cards can be found in 2013 Bowman Chrome including the Mini Factory Sets.

The just released, 2015 Topps Chrome Baseball has Nick Tropeano’s rookie autograph, which is signed on-card. At the moment, not a lot of people are talking about this card but by the time October rolls around, well, you never know. Tropeano is on the checklist of other 2015 Topps baseball products including:

Here’s a look at his MLB debut where he struck out five batters:

Here’s him slinging it for the Halo’s:

He’s a big kid. He has a biting fastball that has movement and now he has an opportunity. As a prospect that’s all you can ask for. Keep an eye out for him.
