The 6′-2″, left winger is an extremely talented hockey player who’s been starring for the London Knights for the past two seasons.

Last season, his first, saw him get 16 goals and 34 points in 65 games. He did go scoreless in 12 playoff games but he was learning the ropes.

Earlier this season, Formenton played well in Ottawa’s preseason games and got one NHL game under his belt. He didn’t get any points but the organization planted a seed. The prospect now knows what NHL life can be like.

So far, this season the King City, Ontario native is averaging more than a point-per-game. In his first 20 games, he got 21 points and nine goals. Hockey Canada noticed and that’s why Formenton was selected to be on the early U20 World Junior Championship roster. He’s only 18, but he impressed in camp and was named to the final roster that will appear in Buffalo in later this month.

Here’s a look at him scoring in the preseason off a great defensive play:

Alex Formenton’s only current NHL licensed, Young Guns rookie card, in 2017-18 Upper Deck Hockey Series 1. In addition, collectors can expect to see him in other 2017-18 Upper Deck Hockey releases as well.

This talented Canadian has the speed, size and hands to potentially become an NHL All-Star down the road. When he enters the offensive zone he’s very hard to cover. He can make the big pass or score the big goal.

The Senators have a very deep talent pool but Formenton has a great chance of making the team next year. If he has a great tournament and finishes out his season strong. He’ll have another summer of training under his belt and that could propel him to the next level.
