Future Watch: Antonio Gibson Football Cards, Washington Football Team – Antonio Gibson was drafted 66th overall by the Washington Football Team. At 6-2, 220 pounds, this guy can move, and you can go back to high school to see where his talent started to show up.

Gibson starred at Eagle’s Landing High School in McDonough, GA. It was there he competed in basketball, track and, of course,  football.

In 2016, his post-secondary journey started at East Central Community College. A lot of players who aren’t heavily recruited choose to go this route. Then, when they put up good numbers (like Gibson’s 50 receptions and 13 touchdowns along with strong kick returning and rushing yards), colleges come calling, and that’s exactly what the University of Memphis did in 2018.

At Memphis, he played at wide receiver and running back. There are plenty of NFL running backs who can catch. That’s normal especially in the throwing era the game is in; but this guy can truly play either position, and he becomes problematic for opposing defenses.

Gibson’s career was solid at Memphis, and he had a kick return touchdown, ten receiving touchdowns, and four rushing converts. He was voted AAC Special Teams Player of the Year and made first-team All-AAC as a return specialist and second-team as a wide receiver. He was just the fourth player to receive honors at two positions in conference history. He finished out the year playing in the Senior Bowl.

At the 2020 NFL Combine, he ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash, including a 35 in. vertical and 16 reps on the weight bench. That’s a good showing.

One of the final cuts in training camp for Washington was Adrian Peterson. At that point, Gibson had secured a spot on the team as a “hybrid” running back. The transformation was complete.

Here’s a breakdown of Gibson’s game:

Collectors can find Gibson’s rookies in 2020 Certified and Origins to name a couple.

Thanksgiving is a big day for football, and Gibson shined, running for 115 yards and three touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys and was voted FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Collect him at all costs.
