Looking to add a player to compliment D’Angelo Russell, their 2015 first round pick, the Lakers selected Brandon Ingram with the second overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

A 6′-9″, 190lb, small forward out of Duke earned second-team all-conference honors in the ACC in his only year with the Blue Devils. Prior to being one-and-done at Duke, Ingram led his high school basketball team to four consecutive state titles and was named North Carolina’s Mr. Basketball.

His college state line at Duke show’s he is a true scorer with per game averages of 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He’ll need to work on increasing his free throw percentage at the NBA level. He shot just 68.2% from the charity stripe in college.

Ingram spaces the floor, can create his own shot and handles the ball well. He is just 19-years old and is still growing. He has started to put on weight, which will be crucial for his long-term health and NBA potential. Right now, the Lakers’ brass is loving what they have seen in their young duo in summer work outs. Lakers’ fans will need to be patient to give D’Angelo and Ingram the opportunity to develop physically and mentally as they learn to play together. However, fans have a LOT to look forward to in the coming years.
