Future Watch: Chase Young Football Cards, Washington – Chase Young was drafted 2nd overall by the Washington Football Team in the 2020 NFL Draft. This 6-5, 264-pound defensive end has been an impact player for the entirety of his young career.

Early on in high school, Young played quarterback, tight end, outside linebacker and defensive end. As a senior at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, he had 118 tackles, five forced fumbles and two touchdowns while his team was undefeated and won a second WCAC championship. He was voted to the 2016 USA Today All-USA team and was named all-metro defensive player of the year by the Washington Post.

40 schools offered Young a scholarship, but he chose Ohio State University. In 2017, as a freshman, this force of nature recorded 3.5 sacks to go along with 18 tackles and a forced fumble as a reserve player. He started his sophomore season and, despite spraining both ankles, recorded 10.5 sacks.

As a junior, Young was named one of the team captains. In one game, he tied two school records, having four sacks and five tackles for a loss. He ended the season with 16.5 sacks (breaking the school record in the process), 46 tackles, 21 of them for a loss, and seven forced fumbles. At season’s end, Young was named the recipient of several awards, including  Defensive-Lineman of the Year and a unanimous All-American. He decided to forego his senior season to enter the 2020 NFL Draft.

Young attended the NFL Combine but didn’t participate.

In his first two games, this phenom had eight tackles (including six solo), and 2.5 sacks. Brian Orakpo set the franchise rookie record for sacks with 11. Expect Young to break that barring injury. Collect him at all costs.
