Future Watch: Evan White Rookie Baseball Cards, MarinersFuture Watch: Evan White Rookie Baseball Cards, Mariners – Evan White was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the first round of the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft. As the 17th overall pick, there were some high expectations placed on the young prospect. Fortunately, he had a nice run at the University of Kentucky so that bode well for his future.

He played in 52 games in his first year and drove in 28 runs with 12 doubles and two home runs. It was a start. In his second season, he played in 54 games smacking 15 doubles, three triples, five homers and 40 RBI with a .376 batting average.

In his third and final year, he played in 53 games and this time he hit 10 home runs with 41 RBI, 24 doubles and five steals with a .373 batting average. He was ready to move on but before he did the 6-3 first baseman was voted as a Second Team All-America and the 29th best D1 prospect by Baseball America.

In 2018, he started out in A+ ball with the Modesto Nuts. In 476 at-bats, he hit 27 doubles, seven triples, 11 homers, and 66 RBI while hitting .300 and putting up a .996 fielding percentage. He did get a brief call up to the AAA Tacoma Rainiers to finish out his season.

In 2019, he had 365 at-bats, hitting 13 doubles, two triples, 18 homers and 55 RBI with a .293 batting average for the AA Arkansas Travelers.

According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:

Because of White’s advanced approach at the plate, a willingness to draw walks and the ability to make consistent hard contact, few question his ability to hit. He’s already shown the ability to send line drives to all fields, and an adjustment he made late in 2018, lowering his hands in his setup, started to allow him to create leverage and tap into his raw power more effectively, as he slugged over .700 in August.

White runs very well and has a strong arm and showed he’s more than capable in the outfield during his time with Team USA before his junior year. A move to the outfield, however, would take the best defensive first baseman in the Minors away from his natural position. His footwork, range, and hands led to some evaluators bringing him up as one of the best defensive prospects, period, in the game. He has the chance to be a Gold Glover, and with his new adjustments at the plate, he could have more of the prototypical offensive profile for the position than people expected. ETA 2020.

Here’s a look at him in action:

Collectors can find Evan White’s first baseball cards in 2017 Bowman Draft.  He also has several cards that can be found in baseball card releases from 2018, 2019 and 2020 including: Bowman Chrome, Elite Extra Edition, Bowman High Tek, Topps Pro Debut, just to name a few. His officially designated rookie cards have not yet been released; pending his call-up to the majors.

White is expected to be the Mariners’ first baseman whenever baseball continues. You still have time to grab his cards.
