Future Watch: Gardner Minshew II Rookie Football Cards, JaguarsGardner Minshew II was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. As a quarterback, he’s had a dramatic rise, let’s revisit that.

After winning a high school championship playing for Brandon High School, he graduated early due to his academic prowess. He attended East Carolina State University. He ended that season strong throwing for three-straight 300-yard games, one was for 444 yards and four touchdowns in 2017. He threw for 16 touchdowns that season. After two seasons there he enrolled in graduate school at Washington State, having already graduated with a BA from East Carolina, and he transferred to play football there.

In 2018, he threw for 4,776 yards with 38 touchdowns and nine picks. He led the team to an 11-2 record. He won the Johnny Unitas Award as the nation’s top senior quarterback. He also was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year. Drew Bledsoe once won that award. Mishew finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

The best thing Minshew did at the Combine was getting a good score on the Wonderlic test. He got 42 out of a possible 50, which matters when you play the quarterback position.

Collectors can find his rookie cards in 2019 Donruss Elite Football, Score, Prizm, and Absolute to name a few.

When Nick Foles went down with an injury, Minshew entered the picture. In his first game, he threw for 374 yards, two touchdowns and no picks against Carolina. In his two wins, he threw for four touchdowns and no interceptions. He has 13 touchdowns against four picks on the season with a 61.2 % pass completion percentage.

Here’s a look at his breakthrough season:

With Foles back, Minshew has proven himself with his teammates and probably with collectors. Quarterbacks can take over the hobby, but surprise quarterbacks are fun to collect.
