Future Watch: Isan Diaz Baseball Cards, Miami Marlins – Isan Diaz was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2014 MLB Amateur Draft. This 5’11”, 201-pound second-base / shortstop has versatility that can find a player on a major league roster.

In his senior high school year at Springfield Central in Massachusetts, Diaz was named the Western Massachusetts Baseball Player of the Year. Soon after, he got his feet wet in the Rookie League, driving in 21 in 49 games.

In 2015, Diaz returned for a full season in rookie ball, counting 13 homers and 51 RBI with a .360 batting average. One year later, he moved to A ball and in 507 at-bats, he slugged 20 homers, 34 doubles, five triples, and 75 RBI.

In 2016, Diaz was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers and was assigned to the Carolina Mudcats, where he had 13 homers and 54 RBI in 2017. One year later, however, the prospect was traded to the Miami Marlins in the Christian Yelich deal. He played for two teams, ending up in AAA with his combined numbers totalling 23 doubles, 13 homers, and 56 RBI.

In 2019, Diaz played solidly in AAA and participated in the All-Star Futures Game before being called up to the big leagues in August. He only played in 49 games, but he was projected to be the Marlins’ starting second baseman the next season before the pandemic hit.

Diaz hit his first career home run with his family in attendance:

Collectors are able to find a large number of Isan Diaz cards to choose from. Both Topps and Panini have featured the prospect extensively, including in 2020 Topps Inception, 2020 Select and several other sets since his cardboard debut in 2014 Bowman Draft.

After playing two games in 2020, Diaz opted out of play. Collectors may forget about him; don’t be that person and put Isan Diaz on your list. Next year is his year.
