Future Watch: Jason Robertson is the NHL Rookie of the Month

2020-21 Upper Deck Series One

Future Watch: Jason Robertson is the NHL Rookie of the Month Jason Robertson has been lighting it up for the Dallas Stars. His pre-NHL career has been well documented. It was previously covered in an initial  Future Watch article.

Robertson was in the bubble with the Stars during that interesting COVID-19 interrupted season. Although the prospect did not get to make his NHL playoff debut. He was around the big club and practiced with them daily until they were eliminated in the Stanley Cup Final, and that gave him a big leg up on the 2021 season. He’s a player who is known for working out hard in the offseason, and that turned out to be very fruitful.

Robertson took a while to get going this year, and in his own words. It has been more than he was expecting as well. Sometimes a young player can come in and spark the veterans, and it took a while for him to get close to the point level of Kirill Kaprizov of the Minnesota Wild, who is still the leader to win the Calder Trophy, but that is now a race to the finish line.

Some collectors already know his younger brother, Nick, is in the Toronto Maple Leafs system and has a lot of talent as well. Both are completely different players but they both will be talked about a lot in the future.

Robertson has lit Dallas on fire to the point that he’s helped them get back in the playoff race this season. He could have won Rookie of the Month last month, but he’s put together another epic one, so this is well deserved. The NHL posts theirs every month, and he will surely be on that list and could very well be the winner for them too. As of April 27th, Robertson has eight goals and ten assists with two game-winning goals, the first two in his career. One was against the Nashville Predators and the other the Chicago Blackhawks. Be sure to make him a part of your collection.
