Future Watch: Jasson Dominguez Rookie Baseball Cards, Yankees – Jasson Dominguez was signed by the New York Yankees as an international free agent in July of 2019. He was the #1 ranked international prospect. At the age of 17, he’s 5-10, 190 pounds and he plays the outfield. Some are mentioning Anaheim Angels outfielder, Mike Trout as a comparison but it’s way too early for that.
He ran a 6.3 in the 60-yard dash which already makes him one of the fastest players in major league baseball. The center fielder has been called “elite” already and he has yet to play a minor-league game for the Yankees. In most cases, it’s a lot of hype but in this case, it seems justified.
According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:
While Dominguez has yet to prove himself against anything resembling big league pitching, he’s equipped to do a lot of damage. He’s a switch-hitter with easy bat speed and plenty of strength packed in his 5-foot-10 frame. He has a smooth swing from both sides of the plate as well as an advanced feel for hitting and a mature approach. Dominguez also has huge upside out of the batter’s box. He’s a well-above-average runner who could be a 30-30 threat while manning center field. With a strong arm and quick feet, he’s suited to play almost anywhere on the diamond and some clubs even worked him out as a catcher, though that position would sap some of his offensive production. ETA 2024
Jasson Dominguez’s first baseball cards were released in 2019 Panini Elite Extra Edition. He has autographed cards in that product, as well as 2019 Leaf Metal Draft.
His parents named him after former Yankees slugger, Jason Giambi, although the spelling is different. This prospect’s dream was to play baseball in the Bronx, in Yankee Stadium. Nothing short of a career-ending injury will stop him from reaching that goal. He should be massively collected.
