Future Watch: Kyle Schwarber Baseball Rookie Cards, Chicago Cubs – The Chicago Cubs haven’t won a world series since 1908. Enter a new manager in Joe Maddon and some youth that have been written in this space and here comes another bat that could help the Cubbies reach the mountaintop. His name is Kyle Schwarber.

Schwarber has been on the radar of collectors and Cubs fans for a few years. Now that he is getting regularly playing time, people are beginning to understand why this kid was such a highly touted prospect.

Good catchers are hard to find. We all expect them to hit but they have the added responsibility of calling the game and keeping the pitchers in the zone. In his first 24 games he’s managed to slug 5 homers and drive in 15. He also has hit a triple and has a staggering .342 average. In his other functions of being a backstop he’s managed to throw out 25% of the base stealers which is respectable for a rookie.

Hitting second in an already potent lineup, Schwarber could be the final piece of the puzzle that gets the team into the final wild card spot. It’s an exciting time in Chicago and this youngster is a big reason the fans are starting to dream about the postseason.

At 22, the Ohio native, was the 4th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft. He was once a finalist for the Johnny Bench award. at 6-0, 235 he may be a 21st century version of the great Hall of Famer. In his big league debut, a 5-4 win over the Reds, he slugged a game-tying two run homer in the 9th and the game winner in the 13th. He went 4-7 with 4 RBI. A career highlight for sure.

Kyle Schwarber’s first baseball cards were released when he was a part of Team USA. Those cards can be found in sets from Panini America including: 2013 Panini USA Baseball, 2013 Panini Select Baseball and 2013 Panini Pastime Baseball.

These were followed by his inclusion in numerous products in 2014 including: 2014 Bowman Draft, 2014 Prizm Draft Picks, 2014 Bowman Sterling, and 2014 Leaf Metal Draft to name a few.

As you can imagine, Schwarber has been a big part of 2015 baseball card releases including: Topps Pro Debut, Bowman Inception and Bowman Baseball. His first officially designated rookie cards will debut in upcoming Topps products later this year.
