At the time still starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger wasn’t happy about this selection. He then wanted to talk extension. That was a sign that this 6-5 prospect could play.

Rudolph attended Oklahoma State University as a true freshman in 2014. At the time he was third on the depth chart. When the two quarterbacks ahead of him got injured, he got his shot. In a game against Baylor he went 13-25 and threw for 281 yards with two touchdowns and two picks. He started the last three games and engineered a victory in the Cactus Bowl against Washington.

In 2015, he was the starter and threw for 3,770 yards, 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions. In 2016, he threw for 4,091 yards, 28 touchdowns and four interceptions plus six rushing touchdowns.

In his final season in 2017, he threw for 4,553 yards, 35 touchdowns and nine interceptions. That season he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Trophy (best senior quarterback) along with the Sammy Baugh Trophy and a few other nice honors. So how did he slip to the third round? Even Rudolph was puzzled about it.

Here he is being interviewed after the Steelers recent OTA’s:

You can find rookie cards of him in 2018 Panini Contenders Draft picks, Score, Majestic and Leaf Metal to name a few.

It will take a year or two to fully know his worth to the Steelers. He will do everything he can to learn on the job with the help of his teammates. The expectation is he could be the starter of the future in the “Steel City” so act accordingly and make him a part of your collection before it’s too late.
