The rookie scored a big double-overtime goal against the Toronto Marlies to give his team the 4-3 win and 4-2 series win. He was a big reason the Checkers were eventual Calder Cup Champions as he counted eight playoff goals and 18 points to lead all rookies.

In 2019-20, the Strathclair, Manitoba native embarked on his second season with Charlotte. In 55 games, he had 22 goals and 42 points. In two games (prior to the Covid pause), his totals were three goals and one assist
