Future Watch: Nick Solak Baseball Cards, Texas Rangers – Nick Solak was drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft

Solak graduated from Naperville North High School in Naperville, Illinois and progressed to the University of Louisville. In three seasons there, this prospect hit 10 homers with 94 RBI and a .346 batting average. In his freshman year (2014) he was voted a College Freshman All-American and in his junior year (2016) he received All-American honors.

Solak went right from the draft to the Staten Island Yankees in Short-A. He hit 13 doubles, one triple, three homers, and 25 RBI with a .321 batting average. In 2017, he started in A-Ball and then went to AA, hitting a combined 26 doubles, five triples, 12 home runs, 53 RBI, and 14 steals.

In 2018, spending the entire year in AA, Solak hit 17 doubles, three triples, 19 homers, and 76 RBI with 21 steals. Over the winter, Solak was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in the three-team deal.

2019 saw Solak start the season with Tampa’s AAA affiliate, the Durham Bulls and ended it with the Texas Rangers after being swapped mid-season for Peter Fairbanks. Solak stayed put in the minors, however, as he was assigned to the Nashville Sounds. His combined AAA season totals were 19 doubles, one triple, 27 homers, and 74 RBI with a .289 batting average. On August 20th, 2019, Solak was called up to the big leagues and hit five homers and 17 RBI. Not a bad way to end a season.

Here’s a look at Solak’s eventful first game:

Solak had his first cards back in 2016, when both Topps and Panini included the prospect in series. Now, collectors can pick up his first official rookie cards in products such as 2020 Topps Stadium Club and 2020 Donruss.

Solak made the Rangers roster when baseball finally started for 2020. In his first 168 at-bats, he hit nine doubles, two home runs, 20 RBI with a batting average of .262 while also stealing four bases. He’s made it, and his power numbers should return. Collectors should be all over this talented player.
