Future Watch: Ronny Mauricio Rookie Baseball Cards, Mets – Ronny Mauricio is already ranked in the Top 100 Prospects in Major League Baseball. Some have him in the Top 50 and he’s only 18! 😲 The Mets are deep at shortstop, but this prospect put on a noticeable show in Columbia last season. He batted .268 in 470 at bats with 37 RBI.

According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:

A switch-hitting shortstop, Mauricio projects better as a left-handed hitter. He’s impressed evaluators with his combination of bat speed and raw power from a swing that works well and should allow him to hit for both average and power. Mauricio’s raw pop is already showing, and he’s only going to add strength and tap into it more as he matures. His outstanding defensive actions, soft hands and plus arm strength will give him a chance to stick at shortstop, where he stands to offer the most value with his bat. And if his 6-foot-3 frame fills out and he needs to move off the position, Mauricio should have the offensive profile to fit at third base. Mauricio looks a lot like former big leaguer Alfonso Soriano in terms of body type, though he profiles as a different type of player. Overall, he has as much upside as anyone in the organization, with a real chance to become an impact player on both sides of the ball. The Mets haven’t been this excited about an international signee since Amed Rosario joined the organization. ETA 2022

Here is a look at his sweet swing:

Ronny Mauricio already has a ton of cards in the market. Some of his earliest releases can be found in 2017 Panini Elite Extra Edition and 2017 Panini Contenders Draft Picks. He also has several cards from MLB licensed products including: 2018 Bowman High Tek, 2019 Bowman, 2019 Bowman Chrome and 2019 Bowman Platinum, to name a few. He also has cards in several Leaf baseball card products, as well.

Mauricio made sure he earned his high school diploma while he was playing baseball here in the United States. He is continuing to take English classes as well. He did take part in Mets spring training before the pause but only had two at-bats considering the big leaguers were there. He is the Mets’ top prospect and he’s growing on and off the field.
