Future Watch: Taylor Leier Hockey Rookie Cards, Flyers – The wait will soon be over for prospect Taylor Leier whose time has come. He was drafted 117th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and ever since then he’s been getting closer and closer to joining the Philadelphia Flyers on a full time basis. After two solid seasons in Lehigh Valley, the team’s AHL affiliate, this year could be his time.

Last season he potted 20 goals with 29 assists in 49 games. It’s solid production to go along with a very fast player who plays hard in the corners. At 22 years of age, this left winger seems to be putting it all together.

He did get a six-game cup of coffee last season with the big club but didn’t put up any points. With all of that said, the experience is likely fueling a very grueling summer training program to get ready for the 2017 campaign. The Flyers will have some open spots this season but there will be a lot of competition and I think he’s up for the challenge.

Leier was a decorated player in junior hockey. He starred with the Portland Winterhawks. He played in the World Junior Championships. He has a WHL title and played on an All-Star team. None of that is a guarantee that you’ll have a long NHL career. At 5′-11″, 177 pounds he has to get physically stronger to be successful at the next level.

Here’s an interview with the talented prospect:

Taylor Leier has a NHL licensed rookie cards in 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey, 2015-16 Upper Deck ICE, 2015-16 Fleer Showcase Hockey. He also has a base card and autographed parallel in the 2015-16 Upper Deck AHL set as well. In addition, Taylor Leier is the Rookie Redemption SP #’d to 999 from 2015-16 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey.

Training camp is down the road but preparing for that could be the reason he has a legitimate shot at making the team this season.
