Future Watch: Troy Terry Rookie Hockey Cards, Ducks
Troy Terry was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks with the 148th selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Over time this pick would turn out to be one of the best values in that draft.
Terry started out in the USHL and eventually the U18 NTDP team. Auston Matthews was a teammate in 2014-15 when Terry had 44 points in 66 games with 19 goals.
The University of Denver recruited the talented Denver, Colorado native and it was a perfect fit. In three seasons there he had 115 points in 115 games with 45 goals. He played in the Frozen Four twice in 2016 and 2017 and then he won a National Championship in 2017.
Gold medals are something that Terry has collected over the years. He got his first in 2014-15 playing for the Team USA U18 team. His next was in 2016-17 and he did that in very dramatic fashion. He got the game-winning goal in the shootout. That’s a great story in itself but he scored three shootout goals in total, that’s amazing.
Take a look for yourself:
Terry made the Anaheim Ducks out of camp. It will take some time for him to get his offense going but getting used to the NHL is a big deal for his development. He’s on a very good team with a lot of veterans so next year may be the year he takes off. Keep an eye out for him.
