Leaf Unveils Final Famous Fabrics Product Under Old Ownership: 2014 Big Apple Baseball
Dallas-based card maker presents last Famous Fabrics baseball set prior to Leaf’s acquisition of the brand!
Carrollton, TX (March 21, 2014) – Although it acquired the assets of the Famous Fabrics product line in December, Leaf has just released the brand’s final trading card set under its previous ownership: 2014 Big Apple Baseball. Originally the property of Canadian-based trading card manufacturer In The Game, the Famous Fabrics line will now continue under the direction of Leaf Trading Cards in Dallas but not before its last hurrah in the baseball realm.
“We are extremely pleased to bring to market the last Famous Fabrics product built by In the Game prior to our acquisition of the brand,” said Leaf President Brian Gray. “We have great things planned for this brand going forward.”
The 2014 Big Apple Baseball product, like its name implies, celebrates all things that are considered legendary about baseball’s rich and illustrious history in New York City. The backbone of the set is comprised of noteworthy players from New York’s storied franchises: the Yankees, Giants, Mets and Brooklyn Dodgers.
Each box of the product includes a slabbed, 1-of-1 cut signature card of a New York great along with either one Big Apple 1-of-1 sketch card or one Big Apple memorabilia card. Only one sketch card of every player was made and the memorabilia cards include game-used jerseys and game-used uniforms from Yankees like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Derek Jeter to Dodger greats Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson and Duke Snider. Hall of Famers like Mel Ott (Giants) and Tom Seaver (Mets) are also part of the jaw-dropping mix!
Be on the lookout for some single memorabilia cards (numbered to 50) featuring such New York City icons as Mariano Rivera, Bernie Williams, Thurman Munson, Mookie Wilson, Gary Carter, Mike Piazza and Reggie Jackson. Some of the most exciting 1-of-1 single memorabilia cards include Ruth, Gehrig, Campanella, Casey Stengel, Joe DiMaggio, Whitey Ford, Elston Howard, Sandy Koufax, Don Larson, Roger Maris and Billy Martin. What’s more, there is a super selection of dual- and quad-memorabilia cards showing pairings like Roger Clemens and Jorge Posada as well as Dwight Gooden and Gary Carter, and Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra. The quad memorabilia cards include foursomes like Wade Boggs, Paul O’Neill, Bernie Williams and Don Mattingly, along with Reggie Jackson, Roy White, Lou Piniella and Graig Nettles.
Only 200 10-box cases were produced so every box is numbered to 2000. Every single cut signature card comes encased in its own airtight acrylic holder from In the Game.
