MLB Future Watch: Colson Montgomery Baseball Cards, Chicago White SoxMLB Future Watch: Colson Montgomery Baseball Cards, Chicago White Sox – Colson Montgomery was drafted 22nd overall by the Chicago White Sox in the 2021 MLB Amateur Draft. This talented shortstop first starred at Southridge High School in Huntingburg, Indiana.

In high school, Montgomery was a two-sport athlete. He averaged 21.1 in basketball for a season, which led to Purdue and Louisville pursuing him. He hit .387 with 33 RBI as a freshman and he hit .333 with 7 homers and 23 RBI with 24 steals. Montgomery led his team to their first IHSAA state championship. In the end, he turned to baseball and committed to Indiana University.

After attending MLB’s first combine, he ended up foregoing college and signing with the Chicago White Sox. Then he was set to make his professional debut. In Rookie-Ball, Montgomery played in 26 games. He hit 7 doubles, with 7 RBI and a .287 batting average with a .396 on-base percentage. In the field he turned 8 double plays.

In 2022 he played for 3 teams, ending up with the Birmingham Barons in AA. His combined numbers were 17 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs and 47 RBI with a .274 batting average and a .381 on-base percentage. His slugging percentage was .429 with 42 double plays. Montgomery’s all-around game was good.

In 2023, the talented shortstop played for three teams again, ending once again in AA. That’s not surprising. A lot of teams keep their best young players in AA. Montgomery hit 14 doubles, 3 triples, 8 home runs with 37 RBI with two steals and a .287 batting average. He had a .455 on-base percentage and a .484 slugging percentage. In the field, he had 123 assists and 35 double plays.

One card to get is Montgomery’s 2023 Bowman’s Best Top Prospects. The card has a nice look, showing him in his classic batting stance.

His 2022 Bowman Draft card is a good one, as well. I love the design and how it blends into the photo. The action shot shows off his power stroke.

One last card could be his 2023 Panini National Treasures Patch Autograph. His signature is a good one and the cards are serial-numbered to just 99. It is a great card of this budding star.
