MLB Future Watch: Luis Alexander Basabe Baseball Cards, SF GiantsMLB Future Watch: Luis Alexander Basabe Baseball Cards, SF Giants – Luis Alexander Basabe was signed by the Boston Red Sox as an international free agent in 2012. At that time, they signed his twin brother, Luis Alejandro Basabe, as well. This outfielder was known for speed, fielding, and a great arm in the outfield.

In December of 2016, Basabe was traded to the Chicago White Sox in the Chris Sale deal. From the age of 16, the Chi Sox were watching him play in various leagues. His 2016 combined statistics, all in A-ball, were impressive at 26 doubles, nine triples, 12 home runs, 53 RBI, and 25 steals.

Basabe made the jump to A+ ball in 2018. He hit 21 doubles with eight triples and 15 home runs, and 56 RBI bases with two teams.

In August of 2020, the Giants traded for this talented player. He was promoted to play for the big club later in that month. They played against their biggest rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team they batted against in the 2021 playoffs. He went 2-14 with a couple of steals. That may not sound like much, but it’s a starting point for what could be a good major league career.

Last winter, the Giants sent Basabe back to the minors, specifically to AA since he had never played there. Now 25, they still believe in his tools. The Giants know how to marinate prospects, and Basabe played his 2021 season with the Richmond Flying Squirrels.  Before the season began, he had a strained wrist muscle that hampered his season. Having missed a lot of playing time with the pandemic of 2021, he only saw action in 33 games, but he wasn’t caught stealing, and his play was decent, still showing some extra-base hit ability.

Basabe’s 2021 Topps Chrome Autographed Rookie Card is a card to aim for. This card features a solid on-field shot of him after an at-bat, and the autograph has a lot of character.

His 2021 Topps Baseball Series 2 Rookie Card shows him in his San Francisco uniform while he’s camped under a fly ball. It’s a nice shot of the young player.

Finally, Basabe’s 2021 Topps Gypsy Queen Rookie Card shows off his intensity. It’s all over his face. Additionally, and this card shows the gear players wear when they’re on the basepaths. Basabe is a bit speculative, but he could be worth it in the next few seasons.
