NBA Future Watch: Julian Strawther Basketball Cards, Denver Nuggets – Julian Strawther came out of one great winning situation at Gonzaga in 2023 ready to join the ultimate equivalent in the NBA: defending champion Denver. In need of young players with upside to replace the likes of Bruce Brown and Jeff Green, the Nuggets selected Strawther. They have been impressed with how he has handled his initially limited appearances.
Growing up in Henderson, NV, Strawther broke out huge as a junior at Liberty High School, averaging 27.3 PPG and 8.8 RPG. The next year, Strawther got to another level with 31.5 PPG, 11.1 RPG and 2.2 APG. At the HoopHall West Invitational, Strawther broke the all-time scoring record with 51 points against Apollo High School. One of the most coveted swingmen in the country, Strawther was classified a four-star recruit. He chose Gonzaga over other major programs.
On a perpetually-deep Bulldog squad, Strawther didn’t have his number called in a big way until his junior season. Yet, he certainly responded. With 15.2 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 1.3 APG, .408 3% and .770 FT%, Strawther achieved maturity as a scorer and an intelligent defender. The decision to enter the 2023 NBA Draft proved an easy one.
Joining a Nugget team that had most rotation spots already filled, Strawther has had the luxury of developing at his own pace. The foremost targeted areas of development for Strawther are improvement off the dribble and secondary playmaking. He has intermittently cracked the rotation, reminiscent of his early days at Gonzaga. Strawther is targeted to become a key player in the league’s latest dynasty.
Strawther’s cards and inserts date back to 2021. Panini Prizm, Leaf Metal, Donruss, Bowman University and Hoops are strongly represented in the mix. Parallels and inserts are widely available, as are autographed cards.
