NBA Future Watch: Kobe Brown Basketball Cards, LA Clippers – Kobe Brown was born on the first day of the 21st Century, an auspicious omen for an athlete who inherited his basketball-playing father’s athleticism. He grew up in the state where his dad played college ball, Alabama. Brown played for Lee High School in Huntsville. He broke through as a junior with 20.9 PPG, 7.9 RPG and 6.8 APG. The next season was even better, with a repeat All-State performance with 24.1 PPG, 12.0 RPG and 8.0 APG.
As a four-star recruit, Brown fielded offers from several significant programs before deciding on Missouri. Brown embarked upon a four-year career with the Tigers, the road less taken for a prospect today who would eventually become a first-round pick in the draft, but he did not even get double-digit shots per game on a deep squad until his senior season. The breakthrough in that final campaign was significant, with 15.8 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 1.5 SPG, .792 FT% and an otherworldly .455 3%. Shining the brightest under the strongest spotlight, Brown put up 19 points and eight rebounds against Utah State on March 16, 2023. It was Missouri’s first NCAA Tournament triumph in 13 seasons.
Given the time that is needed to practice and train, Brown achieved a rare accolade for a prospect. NCAA Today’s Top 10 is designated for athletes who achieved elite status academically and in terms of charitable and mentoring work in the community. The combination of Brown’s character, outside shooting acumen, rebounding ability and superb passing skills for a wing made him irresistible to the LA Clippers in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Brown’s minutes with the win-now franchise have been fleeting, but he has had developmental time in the G League. He’s taken advantage of it to the tune of 18.4 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 5.2 APG, .373 3% and .909 FT%. Brown is working to improve his mid-range offense and get just a bit stronger. As he does so, he stakes a claim to becoming a foundational player for the Clippers as they move to the Intuit Dome.
Brown’s cards and stickers date to 2023, with Panini Prizm, Donruss and Hoops represented. Parallels and inserts are available, along with a range of memorabilia.
