NBA Future Watch: Moses Moody Basketball Cards, Golden State Warriors – Moses Moody is a shot making two-guard who is destined to fit in very well with Golden State as he develops.
Growing up in Arkansas, Moody established himself quickly in high school, leading his team to the state title game in his freshman year and earning a championship in his sophomore season. Moody’s final two years of high school were spent with Montverde Academy in Florida, resulting in a 25-0 record in his senior season with recognition as the nation’s consensus top team. With an additional high-profile stint at the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, Moody became a consensus four-star recruit, deciding to enroll in his home state at Arkansas.
Moody’s winning ways continued with the Razorbacks, leading them to the Elite Eight and notching SEC Freshman of the Year, First Team All-SEC and AP Honorable Mention All-American honors in the process. Four games of tallying at least 28 points fed into a scoring average of 16.8 PPG, with 5.8 RPG and a FT% of .812. The successful season led Moody to the 2021 NBA Draft, where he ended up with the Warriors via the 14th pick.
Selected by a team trying to both win now and build for later – and boasting a plethora of wing talent even before the pending return of Klay Thompson – Moody was placed on the developmental track, outside the rotation and accordingly, logging some time with Santa Cruz in the G League. A 16-point effort for that team on November 3 showed what Moody could accomplish in that setting and provided the impetus for a quick recall back to the NBA.
The focus for Moody in the near term is to build out his frame a bit, refine his secondary playmaking and expand what he does so very well offensively – making shots on opportunities created by teammates – into the capability to create his own shots more efficiently. Fortunately for him, Moody is in a system that has created stars out of those with similar abilities, which positions him for great success when Golden State is ready to elevate his role.
