NBA Future Watch: Noah Clowney Basketball Cards, Brooklyn Nets – Noah Clowney fits what NBA teams are looking for in a modern big man. He’s a combination power forward/center with potential to score all over and serve as a switchable nightmare on defense. In Spartanburg, SC, Clowney was able to play for one of the state’s most successful coaches of all-time, Thomas Ryan, at Dorman High School. There, he worked his way up to 17.5 PPG, 9.7 RPG, and 1.7 BPG in his senior season.
Clowney augmented his prep experience with other opportunities to showcase and develop his skills. At the 2021 NBPA Top 100 Camp, Clowney was ranked among the top ten players at the close of the event. Clowney also played AAU ball for Team Dickerson Celtics. Slotted as a four-star prospect, Clowney chose Alabama. He had other scholarship offers coming from Indiana, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, and Georgia Tech.
Clowney’s Tide tenure began with a European tour, averaging 12.3 PPG and 7.7 RPG. A double-double against the Chinese national team served as the highlight. Three more double-doubles would follow during the season. Clowney put up 15.4 PPG and 12.5 RPG on a Per-40 basis. Sufficient NBA interest existed for Clowney to declare for the 2023 Draft. He landed in Brooklyn with the 21st pick.
On a young, rebuilding Nets team, Clowney has only made three brief appearances while the organization sorts out who will be playing around him in the future. Yet, he has made the most of his G League stint, with 16.5 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 1.8 BPG. Clowney needs to fill out to log serious NBA minutes, but he does have plenty of room on his frame for extra muscle. Greater consistency in scoring, developing secondary playmaking abilities and more use of his athleticism to defensive results are the areas of greatest focus at present. Brooklyn’s success with development of young talents over the past decade leaves them very optimistic about Clowney’s ability to star for the team once they are back in contention.
Clowney’s 2023 ONIT cards at the University of Alabama served as a precursor to his rookie cards. Featured in the Upper Deck Goodwin Champions set, Clowney also boasts an array of cards through Panini, including parallels and inserts.
