NBA Future Watch: Olivier-Maxence Prosper Basketball Cards, Dallas Mavericks – Olivier-Maxence Prosper is not the first Haitian-Quebecer swingman in the NBA. His good friend, Bennedict Mathurin, joined the league in 2022, but Prosper is making a name for himself in his own right. Like Mathurin, Prosper had a stint at the NBA Academy in Mexico City that helped put him on the recruiting radar. Prosper’s MVP award at the 2019 Biosteel Canadian All-Star Game and his All-Star status at the 2019 NBA Academy Camp also contributed to his four-star recruit status.
The son of two college basketball players and the brother of another, Prosper started his college career at Clemson. However, after only placing 11th in MPG as a freshman, he bet on himself by transferring to Marquette. Prosper improved his opportunities a bit as a sophomore, placing 6th in FGA and he jumped to .820 FT%. As a junior, Prosper improved to 12.8 PPG and served as the team’s leading scorer in their NCAA Tournament game against Michigan State with 16 points.
Possessed of excellent defensive skills, Prosper was arguably the breakthrough of the 2023 NBA Combine. He shot up from consensus second-round value to the 24th pick with Sacramento – whereupon Dallas immediately acquired his rights. Envisioned as the defensive anchor of the future for the Mavericks, Prosper is still developing his offensive game. As such, he has spent much of his rookie season with the Texas Legends in the G League. Thus far, Prosper is still better at causing blocks and steals to happen than creating them. Further application of his athleticism in this area will certainly help his development. Already a decent marksman from distance from the corner, greater consistency with Prosper’s shooting could mark him as one of the league’s best two-way players.
Starting in 2023, Prosper has cards and stickers from Panini and Donruss. In addition to the base card, Prosper has numerous parallels and inserts.
