NFL Future Watch: Cam Smith Football Cards, Miami Dolphins – Cam Smith was drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the 51st overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. This 6’1” cornerback starred at Meade Senior High School in Fort Meade, Maryland. Then in his senior year, Smith transferred to Westwood High School in Blythewood, South Carolina. He played in the 2019 All-American Bowl and later committed to the University of South Carolina.
Many true freshman are redshirted. Smith didn’t follow that path, he got into three games and added three tackles. The big thing was he got playing time at a big university.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Smith played in eight games. He started in three of them and produced 16 tackles, 10 were solo tackles, and four passes defended. A good showing, but still not enough runway to show off what he could do in a full college football season.
In 2021-22, he played in 11 games. He started in seven of them. He had 41 tackles, 31 were solo tackles, 2.5 were for a loss, with one forced fumble and 14 passes defended. Smith made Second-Team All-SEC.
In 2022-23, he started nine of 11 games and had 27 tackles. 23 of them were solo with one tackle for a loss and six passes defended. He did not have the best stats going into the NFL Draft, but the combine was still to come.
At the 2023 NFL Combine, Smith ran a 4.43 in the 40-yard dash. His vertical was 38” and probably sealed the deal. The athleticism was there, and that didn’t elude scouts.
Smith is getting very little playing time with the Dolphins early on. It seems like the coaching staff is going to start using him more very shortly. This is a player with some talent who might be able to help one of the top teams in the AFC East. He should be on your watch list.
NFL Future Watch: Cam Smith Cards Worth Collecting
One cool card is Smith’s 2023 Donruss Elite Gold Rookie. It’s limited and numbered to 25, but that’s the fun of the chase. The gold looks good and he’s in his Dolphins uniform.
A nice card of him in his South Carolina uniform is his 2023 Score Rookie base card. It’s a cool card and easy to get. The photo shows him in his defensive stance.
One last card is his 2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks rookie. The Silver version shows him in his college gear in-game action.
