NFL Future Watch: Chris Rodriguez Football Cards, Washington Commanders – Chris Rodriguez was drafted by the Washington Commanders with the 193rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. This powerful running back was always good enough to play in the NFL.
He first starred at Ola High School in McDonough, Georgia. As a senior, he had 1,669 yards and 25 touchdowns! Colorado State, Mississippi, Ole Miss, and Kentucky all went after the three-star rated recruit. In the end, he chose Kentucky.
Rodriguez saw a little time in his true freshman year. He carried the ball twice for 43 yards and redshirted the rest of the season.
In 2019, he was a redshirt freshman. He had 71 carries for 533 yards and six touchdowns.
In 2020, he was a redshirt sophomore and led the Wildcats in scoring, with 785 yards and 11 touchdowns.
As a redshirt junior in 2021, Rodriguez had 225 carries running for 1,378 yards and ten rushing touchdowns with three receiving touchdowns.
In 2022, Rodriguez was suspended for the first four games of the season. In just eight games, he had 175 carries for 904 yards and six touchdowns. It was a solid season, but the transgressions might have played a part of where he was drafted.
At the combine, he ran a decent 4.52 in the 40-yard dash and did 19 reps on the weight bench, but that didn’t move the needle.
His rookie season in the NFL was decent. Rodriguez did get 51 carries for 247 yards and two touchdowns. That was good for an average of 4.84 yards per carry. That was great work, and next year he could be a breakout player in the NFL. Based on his past, this running back is a must collect.

One card to get is Rodriguez’s 2023 Panini Prizm Rookie. He’s pictured running in his classic Washington gear.
Another great card is his 2023 Leaf Trinity Football Clear Silver Autograph. The card is serial-numbered to 99, and the autograph is sharp. The card has a nice design, and I love the blue in the Wildcats uniform.
One last card is his 2023 Donruss Rated Rookie. The Red and Green Prizm card is sharp, and it’s an interesting mix of colors. This is a training camp card, as he is in shorts.
Next year will be much better for Rodriguez. You’ve been warned.
