NFL Future Watch: Jaylen Waddle Football Cards, Miami Dolphins – Jaylen Waddle is poised to make a splash in Miami. He was drafted by the Dolphins as the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. This wide receiver starred at Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas. As a senior he participated in the U.S. Army All-American game.
Waddle committed to the University of Alabama, where he was voted SEC Freshman of the Year. He had seven receiving touchdowns, one for 94 yards and another on a punt return. His versatility is a big key to his game.
Waddle has terrific hands. He knows how to find open areas in the field and he’s always looking to add that extra yardage. He doesn’t always try and outrun the coverage; this prospect knows how to follow his blockers as well. One thing he does well is making players miss. At 5’10”, 182, I don’t worry about his size because of this elusiveness and eventual breakaway speed.
In 2019, Waddle was voted First-team All-SEC. He returned a punt for a 77-yard touchdown, and he returned a kick for a 98-yard touchdown. Not many players can hurt the opposition in as many ways as this guy can.
In late October 2020, Waddle broke his ankle and missed significant time. He made it back in time for the National Championship Game against Ohio State. He helped his team win and was voted Second-team All-SEC. Then he announced he was leaving school for the NFL.
Waddle previously ran a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash, so he didn’t need to do that again at his Alabama Pro Day. The Houston, Texas native did have a 122-inch broad jump that impressed the scouts.
The Dolphins have a rare talent here and he’s a threat to be one of the best receivers in the NFL right away and should be in the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation. He’s an impact player who was reported to have caught over 78% of the passes thrown to him. He could be the Dolphins best receiver already. Let’s see how this develops.
The first card to highlight that is attainable for most collectors is his 2021 Panini Prizm Draft Picks rookie card. It has a classic, classy design. His 2021 Panini Gold Standard jersey/auto rookie is a sweet card. It’s more of a top end card but hey, why not shoot high?
Waddle’s 2021 Panini Certified patch autograph is a terrific card. It’s a colorful action shot of this future star in his Dolphins uniform. That’s a major pull for any collector.
Collectors can pick up Jaylen Waddle’s rookie cards in several 2021 Panini America NFL football card products.
