NFL Future Watch: Joe Tippmann Football Cards, NY Jets – Joe Tippmann was drafted by the New York Jets with the 43rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The 6’6” center is versatile, smart, and strong. That’s what makes him an attractive pick.
After starring at Bishop Dwenger High School and being named a three-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals, he committed to the University of Wisconsin. Tippmann, like many others, didn’t play in his freshman season.
2020 was his official Red Shirt Freshman season. He only played in two games, but he still managed to get an award, Academic All-Big Ten.
2021 was a big year for him. He played in 11 games and started in 10 of them. With him at center, Wisconsin had the second-ranked rushing offense in the nation and a running back as the second leading rusher. He got the same academic award and was being discussed by others.
In 2022, Tippmann started in all twelve games as the center. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the best blocker on Wisconsin’s offensive line. In 338 pass-blocking snaps, he only allowed one sack and five pressures. For the second time, he was named honorable mention to the All-Big Ten (Consensus) list. Also, for the third time, Academic All-Big Ten.
At the 2023 NFL Combine, Tippmann was measured but didn’t do any activities. What most were saying was he’s very strong and tall for his position. Those two things and being able to run block made him attractive, just not in the first round.
At Jets training camp, I saw him playing multiple positions. Aaron Rodgers had arrived, so there was no way the team was going with a rookie center. Tippman showed off his versatility. Eventually, thanks to some injuries, he was playing center and getting very well-graded by outside scouting agencies. In the Jets’ most recent loss against the Cleveland Browns, Tippman allowed no pressures. That was the fourth time this season as a starter. He had a good game and impressed Rodgers.

One card to collect could be Tippman’s 2023 Leaf Draft Green Autograph. It’s an action shot of him in his Wisconsin gear, and the signature is sharp.

It’s rare to find a player without a major card or at least a rookie card. I think Tippmann deserves that as soon as possible, as he is a must-collect.
