NFL Future Watch: Nick Bolton Football Cards, KC ChiefsNFL Future Watch: Nick Bolton Football Cards, KC Chiefs – Nick Bolton was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he is already contributing in a big way to the teams’ success. Teams always pick their “must-have” players in the first round, but the second round is stashed with great talent, and the smart teams draft what they need, and the Chiefs did just that.

Bolton was a high school star playing for Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas. During his senior season, this talented linebacker had 130 tackles with five interceptions. That was a 19-tackle increase over his junior season. He was getting better, and he was ready for the next challenge in Missouri.

In 2018, as a true freshman, he played in all 13 games. He made 22 tackles and was finding his way as a young player.

In 2019, Bolton was one of the nation’s most dominant linebackers. He had 107 tackles, the most in the SEC. His 74 tackles were 15 more than the next closest linebacker in college football. He was truly elite at his position and the scouting services were very high on him two years before his draft year.

2020 was a huge year for Bolton. He won the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week award after recording 11 tackles in one game. His 95 tackles were the highest mark in the SEC. A career highlight was a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown. He was a Butkus Award Finalist, All-SEC First Team by AP, and the league’s coaches.

During his Pro Day, Bolton ran a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash. His 32” vertical jump and 24 reps on the weight bench just whet the appetite of scouts. His NFL season was good. He had 57 tackles. He was the NFL Rookie of the Month in October, and he made some huge tackles in the win over the Bills in the playoffs sending his team to the AFC Championship Game. The way he chases running backs across the field is uncanny.
