NFL Future Watch: Treylon Burks Football Cards, Tennessee Titans – Treylon Burks was drafted by the Tennessee Titans with the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. This big wide receiver provides a great target for his quarterbacks and his future is bright. He got his start at Warren High School, in Warren Arkansas.
During his time in high school, Burks caught 151 passes for 3,403 yards and 43 touchdowns. In his senior year, he suffered a torn ACL. He also committed to the University of Arkansas. Burks was considered a four-star recruit, a solid athlete who played basketball and baseball in high school as well.
As a true freshman, Burks started in nine of 11 games that season. He had 29 catches for 479 yards in 2019.
By 2020, he was the team’s top receiver catching 51 balls for 820 yards and seven touchdowns. He only started in eight games, so this output was noticed. He was voted Second-Team All-ACC by the coaches and the Associated Press.
In 2021, he started in all 12 games and had a career-high in catches with 66 for 1,104 yards with 11 touchdowns. Burks had one rushing touchdown too. Burks became just the fourth receiver in the history of the program to have 1,000 receiving yards. He was named to the First-Team All-ACC by the AP and coaches.
Burks skipped the teams’ bowl game and decided to forego his senior season to enter the NFL Draft.
At the NFL Combine, Burks impressed the scouts. He ran a 4.55 in the 40. His 35.5” vertical was an outstanding achievement. He added 12 reps on the weight bench and that was that. He was sure to go in the first round it was just a matter of who would get him first.
In the early going, Burks has 10 receptions for 129 yards and no touchdowns. He also has 12 rushes. He did hurt his toe, but the Titans feared the injury could be worse. I expect a strong next few games from him. He’s a potential star, which means collecting him is smart.
