NHL Future Watch: Cole Guttman Hockey Cards, Chicago Blackhawks – Cole Guttman was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2017 NHL Draft. This center isn’t the biggest player, but he’s fast and plays with heart.
He played for the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL as far back as 2015-16. He had a goal in two regular season games. In eight playoff games, he didn’t get a point, but he was gaining experience. His team made it to the Clark Cup Finals.
In 2016-17, Guttman had a breakout season. He had 27 goals and 27 assists. Then in the postseason, he added four in six games. He was on the USHL All-Rookie Team.2017-18 was a short season for Guttman, only playing in 17 games and scoring 11 points.
He then committed to the University of Denver. In 2018-19, Guttman had 14 goals and 12 assists in 41 games.As a sophomore in 2019-20, Guttman had 14 goals and 14 assists. Then in 2020-21 he had another big year with eight goals and 14 assists in 23 games. In 2021-22, Guttman was named the captain. He had 19 goals and 26 assists in 41 games. Guttman assumed the top-line center role and is always first to loose pucks, especially in the big games. He played in the Frozen Four where he had an assist to start, and he got a big goal in the crease. Unfortunately, his team fell short and got bounced before the final game.
In 2022-23, he turned pro and scored 30 points in 39 games for the Rockford Ice Dogs in the AHL. He got a stint with the Blackhawks as well, getting four goals and two assists in 14 games.
In 2023-24, he could see significant time with the Blackhawks. In his first three games, he got a goal. He’s a good player worth watching, especially with Connor Bedard on the same power play.

Guttman’s best card is his 2023-24 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns rookie. He’s wearing his white sweater, and the photo shows him about to shoot.
One card to get is his 2023-24 Upper Deck MVP Hockey rookie. He’s pictured in his classic Blackhawks sweater. The photo is a nice action shot of this prospect.
One last card to chase is his 2023-24 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns Canvas rookie. It’s a different shot of him about to shoot. Glad Upper Deck didn’t use the same photo. Collectors appreciate those little things when they’re starting to collect a new player.
