NHL Future Watch: Daniil Gushchin Hockey Cards, San Jose Sharks – Daniil Gushchin was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft. This Russian winger is fast and has a great shot. The Sharks may have gotten a steal, but Gushchin had to get used to North American hockey and round out his game. He would take time to develop.
In 2018-19, he came to North America and scored 16 goals and 10 assists in 51 games for the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the USHL. He added two games of postseason experience as well.
In 2019-20, he got a bronze medal in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The season before, he got a silver medal representing Russia. In his USHL season, he played in 42 games and scored 22 goals with 25 assists. He’s a goal-scorer by trade.
Gushchin scored a career-high 32 goals and 32 assists in 46 games in 2020-21. He added three goals and an assist in four playoff games. He was named to the USHL First All-Star Team.
In 2021-22, he played in the OHL for the Niagara Ice Dogs. In 51 games, he had 41 goals and 30 assists. He turned pro after that season and played in three games for the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL.
In 2022-23, he played most of the season in the AHL. Gushchin blossomed, getting 22 goals and 23 assists in 67 games. He made his NHL debut getting in two games for the Sharks, where he had a goal and an assist.
Gushchin started the 2023-24 season hot with the Barracuda. In his first seven games, he has three goals and nine assists. He could see time with the Sharks this season considering they are struggling mightily.
NHL Future Watch: Daniil Gushchin Cards Worth Collecting
The best card to collect is Gushchin’s 2023-24 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns Rookie. It’s a nice action shot showing him getting ready to make a play with the puck.
Another cool card involves the AHL set. His 2022-23 Upper Deck AHL All-Star Rookie is an action photo showing him in shooting motion, and his uniform looks great.
His 2023-24 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns Silver Outburst Rookie is a cool tech card. It’s more limited, and the silver on the card pops. Make sure you collect this prospect before he gets that call-up and starts scoring.
