NHL Future Watch: Jack McBain Hockey Cards, Arizona Coyotes – Jack McBain was drafted by the Minnesota Wild with the 63rd overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. His father, Andrew, had a couple of 30-plus goal seasons for the Winnipeg Jets in the late 80s. He was 6’1″. His son is 6’3”. Bloodlines help, but bigger players, those power forwards we talk about, take longer to develop. So, keep that in mind.
After a few seasons in the OJHL, McBain joined Boston College in 2017-18. In 35 games, he had six goals and 13 points in his freshman season. That year, he played for Team Canada in the Ivan Hlinka Tournament. He had five points in five games for his country and took home a gold medal.
In his sophomore season in 2018-19, he had six goals and 21 points in 34 games. He was a +5 as well.
McBain had six goals and 21 points in 34 games during the pandemic. Boston College won the Hockey East. They would take that crown again next season.
In 2020-21, McBain was consistent, scoring six goals with 19 points in 24 games. He was improving slowly.
In his senior season, McBain broke out with 19 goals and 33 points in 24 games. He was voted an NCAA East Second-Team All-American. Then he signed with the Arizona Coyotes after they traded to get his rights from the Wild. In ten NHL games, he had two goals and one assist. McBain played in the Olympics and scored two goals in five games during the season!
McBain made the Coyotes out of training camp and had a good showing in 2022-23. In his first 50 games, he had six goals and four assists. As a fourth-line center, he was proving himself. He has more to give, and the Coyotes will find that out next season. Collectors, take note.

McBain’s best card is his 2022-23 Upper Deck Young Guns Series 1 Rookie. He is wearing a cool Coyotes sweater in the nice action shot.
Another card is his 2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey Rookie. It’s serial-numbered and shows him wearing a black sweater.
One last card to chase is his 2022-23 Upper Deck Young Guns Clear Cut Parallel. It’s a long shot to get, but right now is a good time to collect McBain. He will continue to develop, so let’s see where his career goes.
