NHL Future Watch: Shane Pinto Hockey Cards, Ottawa Senators – Shane Pinto was drafted by the Ottawa Senators with the 32nd overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. This 6’2”, 201-pound center has all the tools, and his work ethic and talent were evident early on.
In 2018-19, he burst on the scene in the USHL playing for the Lincoln Stars. His 17 goals and 32 points in 30 games stood out. Then Pinto was traded to the Tri-City Storm, where he averaged more than a point-per-game to finish out the regular season. In the playoffs, the center had nine points in six games. Pinto was selected to the All-Rookie team. In that same year, he represented the United States in the World Junior-A challenge. He had two points in six games and was a part of a championship team.
In 2019-20, Pinto attended the University of North Dakota. A great hockey program, and he didn’t disappoint. His 16 goals and 28 points in 33 games were impressive for a freshman. Pinto was the NCHC Rookie of the Year. During that season he put on a show representing Team USA at the World Junior Championship. Pinto had four goals and seven points in five games.
In his sophomore season at North Dakota, Pinto took another developmental leap. His average of more than a point-per-game in college earned him a label of elite. His 15 goals and 32 points in 28 games stood out. Besides being an NCHC champion, he won player of the year, forward of the year, and best defensive forward in possibly the toughest conference in college hockey.
Additionally, he was named a First-Team All-American and a Hobey Baker Finalist. His 2020-21 season didn’t end there. He signed and played 12 games with the Sens scoring seven points in 12 games.
Pinto was a regular for the Ottawa Senators in 2021-22. In his first five games, he had one point. Then he hurt his shoulder and needed surgery. That ended his season. At the age of 21, Pinto has his whole career ahead of him, and he will be one of the better players for Ottawa if it all breaks right.
Cards Worth Chasing
Pinto’s best card is his 2021-22 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns Rookie Card. He’s pictured in a game situation in a classic Sens sweater.
His 2021-22 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns Canvas Rookie Card shows him off-ice in Sens branded shorts performing some stick tricks, fun card for sure.
Last, his 2021-22 Upper Deck MVP Rookie Card shows him getting ready to take a shot. You can see it in his eyes. Pinto is highly collectible.
