NHL Future Watch: Tyson Foerster Hockey Cards, Philadelphia Flyers – Tyson Foerster was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers with the 23rd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. This big winger has a powerful shot and a top-notch hockey I.Q. He really got his name out there with the Barrie Colts of the OHL.
In 2018-19, he played his first season for the Colts. He had 10 goals and 23 points in 64 games. Foerster played in the CHL Top Prospects Game as well, and he did well on a big stage. That was a good start for the young prospect.
In 2019-20, Foerster had 36 goals and 44 assists in 62 games. He led the league with 18 power-play goals. That’s where his one-timer, his best asset, is a weapon,.
In 2020-21, he was able to play professionally. He played for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the American Hockey League. In a pandemic-shortened season, he had 10 goals and seven assists in 24 games. Expectations were rising.
In 2021-22, he was looking to play anywhere he could, so he went back to Barrie. He had 11 points in 13 games. In the playoffs, Foerster had four points in six games. During that season, he represented Canada in the 2022 World Juniors and came home with a gold medal. He had three goals and three assists in seven games and three points in nine games with the Phantoms as well. He played as much hockey as he could.
In 2022-23, he started the season with the Phantoms, and he was poised for a big season. In 66 games, he had 20 goals and 28 assists. He added three points in three playoff games. During that season, he made his NHL debut with the Flyers, getting seven points in eight games.
In 2023-24, he’s with the Flyers full time. He scored 14 points in his first 37 games.
