Off the Post: Jets Grounded By Flyers On Monday, Josh Morrissey Interview – On Monday, January 28th, 2019, the Winnipeg Jets fell to the Flyers 3-1 in Philadelphia. Jets defenseman, Josh Morrissey accrued 25 minutes on the ice in the loss. After the game, Morrissey had a chance to chat with Russ Cohen.

Morrissey was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1995. In 2010, he was selected by the Prince Albert Raiders in the first round (6th overall) of the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft. In the 2012-13 season, he was the leading scorer among defensemen for Prince Albert. At the 2013 NHL entry draft, he was selected by Winnipeg with the 13th overall pick. He continued to play with Prince Albert, where he was the second leading scorer for the 2013-14 WHL season.

Morrissey made his NHL debut on March 5th, 2016 against Montreal. He scored his first NHL goal on November 15th, 2016. His rookie cards appear in Upper Deck’s 2016-17 catalog of hockey products. Collectors can find his Young Guns rookie card in 2016-17 Series One. Look for other rookie cards in 2016-17 Premier, Artifacts, O-Pee-Chee Platinum and many more. He also has prospect cards in Upper Deck’s 2015-16 AHL Hockey product.

This year, Morrissey has already exceeded his career high in points with 27. The Jets are second in points in the Western Conference, and are looking to make a deep run in the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs. Morrissey will be a key piece to their success moving forward.
