Off The Post: Kaapo Kakko Hockey Cards, New York Rangers – Selected with the second overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers, Kaapo Kakko is a promising young winger who could develop into a dynamic two-way player.
The 6-foot-3, 199-pound Kakko entered the NHL with a lot of hype and debuted with the Rangers to start the 2019-20 season. However, the transition from Liiga (Finnish Elite League) to the NHL hasn’t been smooth for the skilled winger.
Entering Wednesday’s (April 13th) game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Kakko scored only 24 goals in 153 games over the past three seasons. The expectations are high for Kakko to become an important offensive piece for the Rangers. And, against the Flyers, the Rangers hope they got a glimpse of what’s to come, as Kakko netted two goals in the Rangers’ 4-0 win.
In this clip, captured by our own Russ Cohen, Kakko talked about his two-goal performance against the Flyers. He also discussed his linemates, including Filip Chytil, and the shutout Rangers’ goaltender Alexandar Georgiev posted.

Kakko’s official NHL rookie cards can be found in 2019-20 Upper Deck and Panini hockey card products. As most hockey card collectors know, Upper Deck holds the exclusive NHL trading card license. However, Kakko signed an exclusive autographed trading card deal with Panini following the 2019 NHL Draft.
Kakko has some amazing cards under Upper Deck’s umbrella, but his only autographed cards are with Panini.
For those interested in Kakko’s cards, there are a variety to choose from at varying prices on the secondary market. Panini features Kakko’s signature on a number of incredible looking cards, but like most players, Kakko’s most popular card is his 2019-20 Upper Deck Young Guns rookie card.
The Young Guns rookie card of Kakko is reasonably priced for a player with his upside. A raw version of the card currently sells in the $15 – $30 range, while a top-graded version (PSA 10) sells in the $120 – $135 range.
