Rookie Update: Marcus Mariota Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week – The 1st weekend of the NFL season is now complete and this year’s 2nd overall draft pick already made a big impact. Marcus Mariota turned in a historic performance in his professional debut. The rookie quarterback out of Oregon completed 13-of-16 passes for 209 yards and four touchdown passes in Tennessee’s 42-14 win over Tampa Bay. His numbers were good for a near-perfect QB rating of 158.3. His four TD passes were all thrown in the 1st half.
The only other rookie to throw for four TD’s in a season opener was Fran Tarkenton in 1961.
