San Diego Chicken Coming to All Star Sports Cards – Perhaps the most famous mascot in all of sports, the San Diego Chicken, has been in the hobby news a lot lately. Panini America announced last week the inclusion in 2016 Donruss Baseball Cards, a limited number of memorabilia cards featuring swatches of material from one of the revered and lovable mascot’s outfits. The whole process was even caught on video.
Now comes word out of Panini headquarters, that the San Diego Chicken will be making a rare, in store signing appearance for lucky fans and collectors. All Star Sports Cards in Santee, CA., will host the San Diego Chicken, courtesy of Panini America, on Saturday, March 19th between 11am – 1pm.
The Chicken will be signing an over-sized promotional card, produced by Panini, exclusively for the special occasion. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to win door prizes and more. The inclusion of San Diego Chicken memorabilia cards was a surprise addition. The original product solicitation contained no information about the cards. To say that they have been a BIG hit is an understatement. Someone on eBay ponied up $169 to grab one, as did someone else for just over $167. The regular card is serial numbered to 82 copies, with a parallel version numbered 10.
