Until 2013, Morata was splitting time with Real Madrid B. 2012-13 was the best season: 12 goals and four assists in 18 games. With big club playing time not readily available, Juventus swooped in and acquired Morata on a transfer. Morata had the opportunity to do what he could not in La Liga. He reached double digits in goals plus assists in 2014-15 with eight goals and five assists. In 2015-16 he had seven goals and seven assists. Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid exercised their option to reacquire Morata in 2016. He made the most of his next season with 15 goals and 6 assists.

But by January 2019, Morata returned to one of the teams of his youth, Atletico Madrid. This time with the parent club in La Liga, where he has remained ever since with the brief exception of a loan to Juventus. Every season since, Morata’s goals plus assists have added up to double digits.

Morata’s multiple league championships and cups have been paired with success representing his home country. He had a great stint at the 2022 World Cup. It included a goal in each of the group stage matches. That had only been achieved once before, by Telmo Zarra in 1950. The achievement led to Morata being named the national captain for Euro 2024.

A striker with a well-rounded, intelligent, and relentless game, Morata has been one of the most in-demand stars in the biggest leagues in the last decade. The excitement and magnetism that Morata brings makes him a favorite of fans worldwide.
