Soccer Future Watch: Mohamed Salah Soccer Cards, Liverpool – Mohamed Salah is on the verge of being recognized as the greatest soccer player from his country and perhaps even his continent. Starting in youth play in Egypt, Salah graduated to Al Mokawloon Al Arab SC, which served as a launching pad to Basel. There, two Super Swiss League championships further elevated him to the highest level as he joined Chelsea at age 21 in 2014.
However, the shadow of potential mandatory Egyptian military service emerged unexpectedly and opportunities at Chelsea were put on the back burner accordingly. On loan first to Fiorentina and then Roma in Serie A, Salah elevated the latter team to the Champions League. 26 points in 31 matches in 2016-17 marked Salah as the superstar that everyone had believed that he would become.
Salah returned triumphantly to the Premier League on June 22, 2017 on a transfer to Liverpool and continued his ascent, with 42 points (including 32 goals) in 36 matches. The host of honors bestowed on Salah in the spring of 2018 cemented him as one of the best in the world in his age-25 season: PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, Premier League Golden Boot and Premier League Player of the Season. Soon Salah would be leading Liverpool to a host of titles: the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the FA Community Shield, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup – and the franchise’s first Premier League championship.
Salah is justifiably proud of his time with the Egyptian national team, where he became the first African player to tally over 50 goals in international play. Salah’s combination of finishing, speed, and dribbling provided the foundation for his greatness While his intelligence and field vision will suit him well into his 30s.
With initial Panini UEFA Champions League stickers out in 2013 and cards such as Topps English Premier League Gold Future Stars starting in 2014, Salah has been represented in many different forms – including Funko POP! High-end Salah cards such as Impeccable are on the market with both memorabilia and autographs.
