Soccer Future Watch: Thibaut Courtois Soccer Cards, Real Madrid – Thibaut Courtois has etched his name as one of the finest soccer players ever to emerge from Belgium. He has built a legendary status in league and international play. Born in the city of Bree, Courtois progressed through the system at Genk and made it to the Premier League by age 19, signing with Chelsea.
But it was after a transfer to Atletico Madrid that Courtois really began to turn heads in European circles, keeping a clean sheet in two consecutive games. Those two games happened to be his UEFA Europa and La Liga debuts. After Courtois led Atletico to the 2012 UEFA Europa League championship, they extended his loan into the next season. In that next season, they beat Chelsea in a UEFA Super Cup match. Atletico’s win in the 2013 Copa del Rey competition motivated them to extend Courtois for yet another season. That season, his last in La Liga, Courtois led his side to the league title and he won the Ricardo Zamora Trophy.
After rejoining Chelsea in 2014, Courtois blossomed into superstardom, winning two Premier League championships and the EFL Cup. In 2018, Courtois returned to La Liga, this time with Real Madrid, where he has since won two more league championships and become a three-time Zamora Trophy winner.
Unsurprisingly, Courtois established himself at an equally high level in international play with dozens of clean sheets. The peak accomplishment thus far has been the Golden Glove in the 2018 World Cup.
With superb instincts, positioning and athleticism, Courtois has a broad enough base of attributes that he projects to age well deep into his 30s. Courtois continues to build on a record that presently ranks as one of the best of all time.
Of course, a player of this note has a wide swath of valuable memorabilia on the market, from jerseys to Panini Printing Plates with many autographed items. The earliest stickers for Courtois date back to the Panini Belgian Pro League set in 2010-11. While the Futera World Football cards in 2013 mark his debut in that form. National Treasures and Impeccable are just some of the more noteworthy ones to come out over the years.
