Future Watch: Christian Pulisic Rookie Soccer Cards – Chelsea, Dortmund – Any potentially great American soccer player coming up through the ranks knows they must try to live up to the comparison to the great Landon Donovan. One U.S. player who has all the skills and makeup necessary to do that and maybe even surpass the American legend is Christian Pulisic.
The young attacker from Hershey, PA won’t turn 22 until September, but has plenty of experience at the highest levels. Pulisic came onto the world soccer scene through Bundesliga giant, Borussia Dortmund before transferring to Premier League mega club, Chelsea in January of 2019.
He stayed on loan at Dortmund until the new season and has made 16 league appearances for the Blues, scoring five goals and adding two assists. Pulisic had a goal and an assist in four Champions League games as well.
For my money, the sky is the limit talent-wise for the U.S. International. He is blessed with speed and quickness on par with the best in the game. His ability to break down defenders is astounding. His passing is smooth and he has a flair to his game that will electrify fans and break down defenses with equal measure. Christian Pulisic is the real deal.
The next assignment for him is to truly carry a United States national side that needs to be reworked and reimagined for a new generation. There is no doubt in my mind that Pulisic not only can, but he must lead that revolution. I expect massive things from Pulisic in the 2022 World Cup. Keep an eye on that event cementing his place as one of the game’s truly elite superstars for years to come.
Pulisic has trading cards in a wide range of Panini America soccer products dating back to 2016. While Beckett doesn’t categorize any as rookies, the secondary market widely regards 2016 as the young superstar’s rookie season. Look for his cards from that year in the following brands and more:
