Future Watch: Takefusa Kubo Rookie Soccer Cards, Real Madrid – When a massive club, like Real Madrid, brings in a young player, you have to take notice. When Madrid then loans out said player for a season, it is still wise to keep your eyes on that player and their future.
Takefusa Kubo is one such talent. Madrid sent the winger to fellow La Liga side RCD Mallorca for this season. Kubo is 18-years old and spent time in Japan with FC Tokyo and Yokohama F. Marinos. So far, he has played in 23 league matches this season and has two goals for Mallorca.
In terms of skill, Kubo has plenty. He has a sharp ability to change direction quickly. He can dribble at defenders and take them on with no fear. His left foot is his dominant foot and he uses it well. He is a smart player who uses his first touch well to create space for himself. He is also not wary about digging in defensively when needed.
After spending time as a very young player at the famed Barcelona Academy, Kubo was dubbed the “Japanese Messi”. He resembles the great Barca legend in his size. And despite not being big in stature, like Messi, he holds off defenders with his strength very well. Kubo appears to me to be a winger who will also score his fair share of goals.
Kubo has already earned more than a handful of caps for the Japanese national team and could soon be a driving force for his nation as well as for Real Madrid.
