Future Watch: Green Bay Packers Football Cards, Top Five Prospects – The Green Bay Packers are advancing through the playoffs again and while we watch games each week, it’s worth noting some players you may not have collected initially

Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a 6-4 wide receiver who saw his fair share of action in the 2020 season. This third-year pro set career highs in yards (690) and yards per reception (20.9, which also led the NFL), and touchdowns with six. Marquez-Valdes Scanting can go up and win a 50-50 ball or streak past a defender for a significant catch. Keep an eye on him in the NFC Championship Game.

Allen Lazard is a second-year wide receiver with speed who can split defenders and the hands that can catch a misthrown ball. In Week Three against the New Orleans Saints, Lazard caught six balls for 146 yards and a touchdown, with his season’s-best catch coming during play (72 yards). In the Divisional Playoffs against the Los Angeles Rams, he caught a 58-yard touchdown.

Malik Taylor was a practice squad player for Tampa Bay for part of 2019, who the Packers will face next in the NFC Championship Game. At Ferris State, Taylor could outrun coverage and catch a seam pass and turn that into bigger yardage, that’s more of what he does these days. A late-season hamstring hampered the rookie, but he saw action against the Rams.

Ty Summers is a second-year linebacker out of Texas Christian University. Tackling is his game, and Summers got 37 of them this year, 25 of which were solo, he can be a heat-seeking missile who can take down running backs in stride. Watch him shine in the playoffs. Summers took 18 snaps against the Rams and will probably take more against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jordon Love is the Packers’ backup quarterback. When he was selected with the 26th overall pick in 2020, there was a collective gasp that came from the mouths of cheese heads. Aaron Rodgers is still the man, and he’s working with Love, who is a star in the making. Love is mobile, can make that backfoot throw, and possesses a plus arm. Love spent some time on the Covid-19 list this season and never threw an NFL pass, but it doesn’t matter. Love is the quarterback in waiting, and that wait could be two or three more seasons the way things are going.
