Hobby Musings: Keepsake Bruce Lee 50th Anniversary Collection – Over 50 years after his death, Bruce Lee remains an iconic figure. As such, his memorabilia continues to be cherished among collectors. Surprisingly, he doesn’t have a lot of licensed trading cards. That will be changing in 2024 with the release of Keepsake’s Bruce Lee 50th Anniversary Collection. I had the chance to catch up with Scott Allen to find out how the product came about.
KS: Scott, this is a heck of an interesting product you have coming out with the 2024 Keepsake Bruce Lee 50th Anniversary Collection. What prompted you to make it?
SA: Bruce Lee has influenced many people over the globe for the past 50+ years. We are grateful to be able to pay tribute to him in 2024, and the 50th anniversary of his death, with this first release. His cards from the past are classy and valuable, and we anticipate our Keepsake Editions to be as well.
KS: What was the biggest challenge in putting together this release?
SA: We believe the biggest challenge with this release will be a shortage of product, being that it’s a limited edition run.
KS: There are a lot of cool cut signatures, several unique relic items, and gem cards in the checklist. How were you able to acquire everything?
SA: It’s been our pleasure to work with the Bruce Lee family and friends in the acquisition of authentic owned items. Pieces such as the ones we’ve used in this production run simply don’t surface very often. The handwritten letter about his teachings and philosophies is a museum quality piece. We are honored to be able to procure the items we did for this product.
KS: What are some of the highlights collectors should be keeping an eye on in boxes?
SA: We have produced incredible inserts throughout this production run to pay homage to Mr. Lee. We feel collectors will love the opportunity to own a piece of a Bruce Lee mask and even his personal music player.
KS: If you had to pick, what do you think is the single coolest item in the checklist?
SA: We have one of one original Real Reels cards that are the original film shot for that picture of him. Truly unique. The signature of Bruce Lee will definitely be the most sought after item.
KS: When will the product be available to purchase?
SA: 2024 Keepsake Bruce Lee 50th Anniversary Edition is due to release February 21, 2024, and could very well be sold out upon release.
